Brian Karlow

President

With over 36 years of experience in electrical construction and contracting, Brian P. Karlow is President of Gurtz Electric and a respected leader in the electrical construction industry. Having spent 28 years with Gurtz Electric, Brian has progressed from the field to executive leadership, bringing a unique combination of hands-on construction experience, technical expertise, and business leadership to his role. After completing a four-year electrical apprenticeship with IBEW Local #134, Brian continued to pursue education, professional development, and leadership opportunities, with a focus on construction excellence, business management, and operational performance.

In 2002, Brian earned the RCDD Accredited Professional designation through BICSI, further expanding his expertise across both the electrical and communications industries. Throughout his career, he has led and managed complex projects across a broad range of markets and technologies, including mission-critical infrastructure, healthcare facilities, medium-voltage 34kV distribution systems, and high-capacity 100G fiber-optic networks. His experience spans the full project lifecycle, from preconstruction and design coordination through field execution and project delivery.

As President, Brian is focused on continuing to advance Gurtz Electric’s capabilities while building strong teams and developing innovative approaches to the evolving demands of the construction industry. His leadership approach emphasizes strong relationships, disciplined execution, innovation, accountability, and developing people to successfully deliver increasingly complex projects.

Outside of work, Brian enjoys competitive cycling, swimming, and restoring American muscle cars—interests that reflect his appreciation for performance, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
